Lent and Easter are always a busy time for us here at Proost. This is a naturally contemplative and reflective season where we ask ourselves questions and we begin to gaze with similar amazement at the events of Jerusalem and a man who died on a cross all those years ago.
We know many of you have been downloading Lent resources including 40 and the newer material we launched last month such as Old Lost and Broken Dreams by Tim Watson and Andy Freeman's Francis:Stories and Reflections. It's not too late to explore some of these Lent focused resources and if you head to the Seasons section of the site you can find a special Lent area.
However, as we begin to look towards Easter we wanted to launch two new pieces of music which couldn't be more diverse if they tried.
The brilliant Gardens EP is by Winchester DJ and Pioneer Steve Leach and his first release on Proost. The EP looks at the three gardens of the Bible - Eden, Gethsemane and Paradise and this ambient, electronic mix of beats and rhythms is a brilliant backdrop for a worship event or for your own personal reflections. If you like electronic music you'll love this.
Also new this month is Voxi, a South Africa based vocal choir exploring Taize in and contemporary songs in an attempt to create a sacred space through music. Expect strings and beautiful voices but with many surprises both ancient and modern and a song list that includes six languages. This is an amazing experience.
As we walk towards Holy Week and Easter have a look at the Easter and Good Friday sections of the Seasons menu but in particular why not take a look at these wonderful and inspiring resources:
* Twelve Stations is another animated gem from our own Jon Birch, expect great animations and a powerful message.
* A twist on the stations idea is Stations of the Resurrection by Ian Adams and Si Smith and then Raised in Leeds by Si Smith. These two place the events of the cross and resurrection in contemporary settings and are deeply powerful.
* Crucify this Jesus is a wonderful selection of poems and liturgy by Tim Watson. A popular download, this is a great accompaniment for any worship of reflection at this time of year.
Lastly there are two exciting bits of housekeeping from the Proost team to share with you. First of all we now have a US currency website for our friends across the pond. Check out www.proost.us for more details. This will make payment a little easier and in time we hope to give exposure to US based artists on this site too like Tim Snyder's recent release Restless. Secondly a reminder about our Movie Competition. If you'd a budding film maker we'd like to hear from you. Check out the page more details.
We'd love to end this article with a simple Easter blessing which begins to point us to this season to come.
God, who through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ
has given us the victory,
give you joy and peace in your faith;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
With every blessing,
The Proost Team
