Unusual Suspects are new unpublished talent who we work with to publish in a range of media.
If you are interested in being an Unusual Suspect we are looking for unknown poets, writers, illustrators, animators, film makers, music producers, fine artists, cartoonists etc. to present us with their ideas for media for our download site. If we like the idea, then you will be asked to make your piece of work - maybe a short film, a set of poems meditations or cartoons, a set of illustrations or music tracks… The idea/s you present to us will be geared towards helping people in their spiritual journey. . We look forward to hearing from you. Juli Allen is a girl growing. She is 23, a recent college graduate, and on a journey. Juli was raised Episcopalian, attended a Baptist University, and is currently involved with two faith communities: Harbor and Wellspring (the former in the city and the latter in the suburbs), both of which are trying to find what it means to be in authentic relationship with people and with God. Her first book is a collection of blessings that have been written throughout the Wellspring gatherings, stem from the dialogue, and have been a beautiful way to send forth and bless the community.
Andi Mac - Andi Mac is a 22 year old, recently graduated in theology, who like to pretend to be a graphic designer between doing bits and pieces of youth work. He is part of a community in Lurgan, N.Ireland called Arise which has been a playground for his creativity. The movie Cloud is his first offering on proost born out of a period of heaviness in the Arise community. It also explores the idea of God's presence as a cloud - reassuring and guiding.
Harronell - Laurence Keith is a musician living in Sheffield. For the last 15 years he has been in bands writing and playing ROCK (Arcane), jazz/funk (dwh), bizarre worship (evesher), pop (Lofter), Mainstream rock/pop (stoney lacuna) and finally this. Harronell is the result of 3 years of writing to salve the soul during some tough, changing times. Songs written by both Laurence and Beth Keith. Main influence must have been having a dad who was into Thin Lizzy and Prog Rock, and was always writing songs and playing in bands. He's still doing that now. Here's to cool dads.
Cntrst aka Joel Baker is 17 and living in London. He produces graphics and art in a variety of media as well as music and Djing. His first Unusual Suspects contribution is Identity Bites (available in the movies section of the site) - a short film mixing animation, film and photography with his own original soundtrack exploring identity, particularly in today's climate of business and work.
Isaac Everett is a musician, composer, audio designer and the co-founder of Transmission an underground church in New York City. His music weaves pop, glitch electronica, acid jazz and traditional liturgical melodies into a unique but familiar tapestry of urban spirituality. Rotation is avalailable in the audio section of the site. 'Rotation synthesizes religiosity and modernity in a way this is inspiring. Sophie Dutton is an activist, a geek, a student, an idealist and a writer. Her creative juices really started flowing as a writer when she got involved with alternative worship community Visions in York. Her writing is real and honest, not afraid to confront tough issues and themes. Holy Darkness Pocket Liturgies, her first book, helps launch the Pocket Liturgies series that we are very excited about and is available in the book section of the site.
